Summary

Discover the timeless tale of The Tortoise and the Hare, where slow and steady wins the race. A story of persistence, humility, and success.

Biography

Once upon a time, in a beautiful forest, there lived a hare who was very proud of his speed. He would often boast to the other animals about how fast he could run. "I’m the fastest animal in the forest!" he would declare, looking down on all the other animals. "No one can beat me in a race."

The tortoise, who was slow and steady, overheard the hare boasting and decided he had had enough of the hare’s arrogance. The tortoise was tired of hearing the hare brag about being the fastest. So, he slowly but surely approached the hare one day and said, “I challenge you to a race.”

The hare laughed loudly. “You? Challenge me? You are so slow, you’ll never even make it to the finish line before I finish my nap!”

But the tortoise was determined. He looked at the hare and said calmly, “Let’s race and see who wins.”

The race was set to take place the following morning. All the animals of the forest gathered to watch the race. The hare, being so confident in his speed, was sure he would win. He even took a nap before the race started.

When the race began, the hare dashed off in a blur, leaving the tortoise far behind. The tortoise, however, kept moving at his slow but steady pace, never giving up.

After running for a while, the hare looked back and saw that the tortoise was still far behind. Confident that he had plenty of time to win, the hare decided to take a nap. "I’ll just sleep for a little while," he thought, "and still have plenty of time to finish the race."

Meanwhile, the tortoise kept on plodding along, slowly but surely. He didn’t stop or rest. He simply kept moving forward, one step at a time.

Hours passed, and the hare slept soundly under a tree. But while he was resting, the tortoise kept moving and soon passed him. By the time the hare woke up, the tortoise was already near the finish line.

The hare quickly jumped to his feet and started running as fast as he could, but it was too late. The tortoise had crossed the finish line before the hare could catch up.

The animals in the forest cheered for the tortoise, and the hare hung his head in shame. He had learned an important lesson: “Slow and steady wins the race.”
